Diablo Lake & North Cascades
The last hurrah, the last weekend in Washington, so of course I had to go down swinging. My friends Brian and Tim from home came up for the weekend and I decided I needed to go to the North Cascades and Diablo Lake to cap off my year. With good weather in the forecast, I was really excited to go out and just unwind a little before finals
Our campsite was right on the bottom corner of Diablo Lake, and it was such a perfect spot. The campground was called Colonial Creek Campground, and we were at site #5, right on the water. This was the view from our hammock's:
Hard to beat right? It was a little windy, but not terribly cold. It was actually really really nice out! After taking a nap, we played some good old Cambio
There were a couple of trails around the campground but I planned this trip around just relaxing and not as much intense hiking or anything. Just a low-key, relaxing trip to unwind
Nice little fishing dock just to hang and snap a few pics on the South side of the campground
After checking out a couple spots around the area, we settled down for dinner, waiting for good lighting to head up to the Diablo Lake Overlook (I kept saying Overlake instead oops). After some solid Mountain House (Beef Stroganoff is the best), we headed up to the Overlook to watch the sunset. And boy we were in for a treat
Tim's a babe
The water color was absolutely insane, and the way the light came across the peaks was BUTTER. One of the best sunsets I've seen in awhile. Also helps that I had incredible friends to share it with

WOAH. A picture of me?
A PICTURE OF ME BY MYSELF? WHAT? Shoutout to Brian for being a beast and taking some sick pics

Shoutout to ZipCar for helping making this trip happen, Eager was a beast. When we got back to camp, Tim, who lived in Missouri (miz-UR-uh) and has EXTENSIVE experience chopping wood, could not split these logs lying around our campsite. AND NEITHER COULD I. It took us a solid 30 minutes to split one log. ONE. We aptly named them "devil" logs (because you know, Diablo Lake). Just ask Tim about them. And with that, we went to sleep after editing some photos. We woke up the next morning and made our way back home, taking our time and taking in North Cascades Highway. Easily one of my favorite Washington trips, it was just great to relax for the weekend. I'm so thankful for Brian and Tim, they are both incredible and I'm so proud of all they've done. Until next time
