Searching for Serenity: Hike to Lake Serenity

We went into this hike knowing it was 8 miles round trip and a portion of it being 1300 feet straight up in 1.3 miles. We expected the weather to be really snotty and rainy, but it was a lot better than we expected. Typically, this would just be your normal hike, but for Em, HAHA NOOOOOOO. Every 100 yards "Boogie, you make too many dad jokes". 10 minutes later, she'll make a dad joke. Every switchback was a mental breakdown. After what felt like 10 million switchbacks, we finally reached the lake. Em was pushing us out of they way to get to the lake and actually freaking out. But it was understandable. Never have I gotten somewhere up here and been so dumbfounded and unable to capture it in a photo. Avalanches went off accompanied by a symphony of what sounded like gunshots. We made a pitstop at Lunch Rock to pull out our signature Boysenberry and Nutella sandwiches and just relax for awhile. After throwing 10 too many snowballs at each other, we decided to pack up and make our way back down.
I'm continually floored by God's incredible Creation as I explore this corner of the U.S. My photos barely serve it justice.
Probably one of the best hikes I've been on since I've been up here, and glad to catch our first glimpse of snow. Finished the day off by debating on whether to eat at McDanks or something else, but we decided to finish an epic day with an epic dinner at Chick-Fil-A and Kung Fu Panda 2. Enjoy the photos below!

"Hey, my nose is runny, I better go catch it" -Boogie (accompanied by Em's pity laugh)

Em's first mental breakdown (couldn't tell if she was crying or laughing, probably both)

"I'm putting this on my Insta story"

Em finally realizing how incredible me and Boogie are and how lucky she is to have us as friends
