Olympic National Park Camping
Aren't they cute?
Sun? What?
Breaking 70 degrees? What?
Cameras back? What?
New editing style? What?
First post in over a month? What?
That's right. I'm back. Sorry for the mini hiatus, first off, my cameras both got some bad water damage so I didn't have anything to take photos with besides my phone (which is actually incredible). And it wasn't too bad actually, I got a lot of time to myself to just unwind and relax on the weekend. No need to "create content" or "water my flowers". Just good old R&R and some time with God. Some updates: Drew came up to visit me and we went to 7 coffee shops in 5 days, my parents came to visit for a perfect weekend, I got a 1978 Martin M-38 acoustic which I haven't been able to put down, and I will be interning at Saddleback Church this summer!
I've been extremely bogged down with this last quarter of my first year of college, so the blog just kind of went on the back burner. Don't worry, it'll be making a full fledged comeback. Shoutout to Kat for reminding me to get back on it!
The crew. With all the great weather, we decided to camp at the Olympic Peninsula, one of my personal favorite places. We camped at Heart O' the Hills, and the first thing we did was go up to Hurricane Ridge to check out the amazing view on the clear sunny day we had. Wayyy too much visibility. I could see wayyy too far (if you can name that reference I'll buy you lunch)
You might be noticing that I'm using a new editing style, and you'd be right! I'm testing this preset out and seeing how I like it. So far I love it! Gives me a very summer feel, and I'm digging the blown out highlights for some reason and I love the warmth in the photos. Kind of a low contrast, split-toned look. Haven't been able to test it out because it looks a lot better when it's sunny and well, I live in Seattle.
Afterwards, we drove into Port Angeles just to hang out a little, found this sweet dock and snacked on some deli fried chicken from Safeway and just enjoyed the nice weather. Found this sweet wall and took some future roomie photos for Boogie and Blake
We settled in at our campground, set up the tents, hammocks, started a fire, ate and just enjoyed each others' companies for the night. We cleaned up then settled in for the night
I love how the lighting looked this morning, and Boogie was looking real comfy in his Poler sleeping bag so I snagged a quick pic. We packed up and headed off to First Street Heaven for breakfast. I've only eaten at one place in Port Angeles, and its been First Street Heaven, twice. Their breakfast sandwich on sourdough is incredible, and they just really know how to do a good hash. Afterwards, we had some time to kill so we decided to check out this beach called Salt Creek, which made me a little homesick
The lighting was simply MAGICAL. There was a bit of a marine layer (which is a term Californians apparently only use) but it started to burn off and the results were some amazing light filtering in between trees and some of that famous mystical PNW fog. We walked around trying to find a way to this haystack that I saw and after some trial and error, we found the road that lead to the beach access. And man it was good to be back at the beach. Not gonna lie, its getting rough trying to finish these last couple weeks of school strong when summer is so close. As gorgeous as Washington is, nothing beats California (CaliBurger is NOT AT ALL a suitable replacement for In-N-Out and anyone who says so is a heathen and probably hasn't been blessed by In-N-Out before)
No Olympic Peninsula trip would be complete without visiting the famous Lake Crescent Lodge. It was such a beautiful day, so we decided to just relax on the dock and hang out, and take in the much needed sun that we all lacked.
With such nice weather, we broke out the swim trunks and decided to jump in, because why not
The water was freezing but it was something like 75-78 degrees outside which is practically unheard of for me for the past months I've been here. After some more shenanigans and just relaxing in the sun, we decided to call it a wrap and head back home. And with that, I will leave off with this amazing photo of Boogie's jump:
